Our range of services includes guided exploration of Niseko’s renowned terrain via the gate system, day trips to nearby resorts for exceptional skiing, and backcountry guiding within the vicinity.
Backcountry guiding with NBS is the ultimate way to explore the incredible backcountry terrain that Niseko has to offer.
With a team of seasoned guides and instructors, we offer a secure and unforgettable experience for skiers and snowboarders. Each day can be tailored to your backcountry experience goals, with the option to explore Niseko and some of the amazing surrounding resorts Hokkaido has to offer.
Please book in advance for backcountry guiding, especially if you would like to request a specific guide.
We recommend having a skiing ability of level 5 (see our levels here) and above in order to enjoy the full backcountry guiding experience. Feel free to get in touch to discuss if it will be right for you.

What to Expect
- 7 hours of guiding and coaching, tailored to your needs and goals
- Transport within Niseko or to and from chosen nearby resorts including Rusutsu, Moiwa and Kiroro
- Avalanche safety training
- Options to book for Niseko area and/or surrounding Hokkaido ski areas, or to upgrade from Niskeo to Hokkaido as necessary
Notes
- Backcountry guiding does not include a lift pass
- Avalanche safety equipment (shovel, probe, transceiver and backpack) is not included, but can be rented at additional cost
- Price indicates the cost for up to 5 students
- Backcountry guiding is most appropriate for level 5-6 skiers (see our levels here)
- We recommend that participants be of a similar skiing or snowboarding level
- Backcountry guiding lessons can be mixed between skiers and snowboarders if necessary
- Participants must have suitable snow/skiing travel insurance that covers them for backcountry skiing
