The NBS junior mogul camp takes place in spring, with 5 or 10 day camps available from 3rd March onwards, which include 5 hours of on-snow coaching per day. Contact us to find out more.
We require participants to be level 5-6 skiers and above (see our levels here) to take part in our mogul camps.

1 | I have never skied before | In this level, you will learn how to use your equipment, familiarise yourself with sliding down the hill for the first time, and how to stop using a snowplough. You will also learn to make a slight direction change while skiing on GREEN terrain. |
2 | Have had ski lessons before and can stop. Able to make awedge and change direction. | Level 2 focuses on improving your snowplough turns so that you can control your speed on GREEN slopes, avoid obstacles and go where you want to go! |
3 | Can ski confidently in a wedge and make linked turns.Starting to experiment with parallel skiing on green runs. | In level 3, your instructor will help you to turn with your skis in more of a parallel position. This will reduce strain on your legs and allow you to ski faster with more control on GREEN terrain. |
4 | Completely parallel with no wedge on all green runs,almost parallel with some wedge during turns on red runs. | A level 4 lesson will refine your turns so that your skis remain parallel at all times. This instills confidence to take your skiing to steeper GREEN terrain and easy RED slopes. |
5 | Completely parallel on all red runs, almost parallel on blackruns. Starting to ski off piste, small moguls andexperimenting in beginner terrain park. | In this level, your instructor will focus on skills such as edging so that you have more grip while skiing. This will strengthen your ability to control speed and assist you when skiing RED slopes. You may also be introduced to groomed BLACK slopes. |
6 | Confidently skiing parallel on groomed black runs. Able todo short parallel turns and experiment in the bumps, treesand powder. Able to ski through terrain parks. | Level 6 focus on tactics and variations in your turn size so that you can control your speed and feel at ease on steeper RED runs, BLACK runs and off piste terrain. This level will also improve your TERRAIN PARK skills if this is your goal. |

2 | Side slipping on both edges, Working toward c-turns (turning from one edge to the other). | It's time to turn! In this lesson you will learn the basics of both heel and toe side single turns making it easier to avoid obstacles and ride where you want to ride on GREEN terrain. |
3 | I am learning to link turns down most green slopes. | Level 3 will guide you through linking your single turns so that you can make fluid turns down GREEN slopes. Exploring turn size and shape. |
4 | Comfortably linking turns on all green slopes, ready for the red slopes. | In this level you will learn to refine your turns so that you can start to attack steeper GREEN and easy Red runs. You will also start to ride easy terrain "switch" (backwards) and learn entry level freestyle manoeuvres. |
5 | Able to ride red slopes, Have basic switch riding skills and experimenting in the beginner terrain park. | Focus on varied terrain (exploring to freeride) and building skills to ride the whole mountain (exploring to carve). You will also expand your TERRAIN PARK skills (exploring freestyle) and start riding switch with confidence! |
6 | Carving on groomed runs. Riding powder, trees and off piste with ease. Able to ride terrain park safely and perform grabs, board slides and 180 spins. Riding switch on red slopes. | Here we show how to be a pro active rider instead of riding passively. Downunweighted turns, race training and using the terrain to your advantage. |
Mogul Camp Terms & Conditions
In addition to the standard NBS Terms and Conditions, the following also applies for every child who participates in the Junior Spring Mogul Camp program:
- By participating in the training offered by NBS, the customer, parent or guardian understands that snow sports can be dangerous and may result in injuries. NBS will not be held liable for any injuries or accidents occurring before, during or after the service has taken place. NBS is not liable for any equipment that is lost or damaged during this training. This includes any replacement costs or lost training time. NBS requires every participant to follow instruction from NBS personnel at all times.
- NBS requires anyone participating in these programs to have appropriate travel insurance with adequate snow cover.
- Parents or guardians of any child booked into the Mogul Camp MUST provide a working contact phone number. Failure to do so could result in parents or guardians not being advised in the event of an emergency.
- In the event of an accident, NBS will endeavour to contact you immediately (Note: It is your responsibility to provide a contactable and working phone number)
- A shuttle bus will operate between NBS, at the base of Alpen Ridge in Hirafu, and Moiwa ski resort. All students are required to be dropped off and picked up by parents or guardians from NBS the appropriate start and finish times each day.
- In the event that an injury is sustained whilst on the program, NBS will call the Ski Patrol to provide first aid. If the Ski Patrol deems the injury worthy of Hospital treatment, Ski Patrol has the right to call an ambulance without your consent.
- All participants must be signed out by a parent or guardian at the conclusion of each day.
- To participate in the Mogul Camp students must be aged 7 and above and be a minimum of level 5 in ability according to the NBS ability chart.
- NBS reserves the right to merge groups of differing age and ability level.
- If a child is assessed on the first morning and is deemed by the coaches not to be of level 6 standard then SkiJapan reserves the right to transfer the lesson credit to the NBS KIDS CLUB program operating in Hirafu. No credit or refund refund will be given for the difference in cost.
Ski Japan reserves the right to change the program at any time to better suit the weather/snow conditions or to better suit the children’s ability and development plan. - All SkierX and Mogul Training is subject to change based on the availability of terrain.
- Lunch is taken on the mountain at various restaurants. Children with food allergies/special requirements who are participating in the program may need to bring their own lunch.
- Photographs or video may be taken of your child by NBS authorized photographers. These images may be used in public promotion or information.
- Cancellations by the guest as a result of bad weather will not be refunded. Only official Resort staff can declare the mountain closed.
- The running of all Mogul camps is subject to a minimum of 3 students per program week. If a SJTA program is not operated due to not reaching the minimum number requirement an alternative NBS program held in Hirafu, Niseko will be provided.
- Programs are offered over the course of one week consists of 5 or 6 days training. Individual days are not available. No refunds will be provided in the event the full program is not utilised.
- Unless booked as part of a SkiJapan.com travel package, in which their standard T&C’s will apply, a non-refundable deposit of $250 per student is required within 14 days after confirmation. Final payment is due 31 days prior to travel. For bookings made within 30 days of travel full payment is required 7 days after confirmation. Cancellation outside of 31 days will incur loss of deposit. Cancellation within 31 days will incur 100% cancellation fee.
